I GRADUATED! Now what…

It’s almost been one month since I graduated from Chico State and almost two weeks since I left Chico. To say I’m excited is only the half of it.

If you would have asked me a month ago if I was excited to leave my nice little comfy bubble of being a #millennialcollegestudent I would have laughed and said, in the most polite way, “hell no, madam (or sir).” I was nervous to leave the town that I had grown into, the town that held so many wonderful memories for me.

Chico was the place where I found so many things that have influenced my life: my sense of drive and passion for what I want to do, my wonderful friends who stuck by me even when I was being a little beezy, random bras on campus after the weekend (no, really) and my loving boyfriend who is a Chico native and who has joined me to build a life together in San Jose.

Chico State taught me so much, not only in the classroom, but outside of it. Chico State has a vibe that can only be described as friendly. Everyone there, despite the few who gave me the stink eye in the library my freshman year, is friendly. There is a sense on campus that can only be felt on it; something that I wish I could bottle up and use when I’m feeling down.

Needless to say, Chico and the campus that became my second home (looking at you, Tehama) will always have a special place in my heart.

Now, I look towards the future.

To finding myself and whatever this may mean. To finding what I really can d

o with my degree and once I do, that I enjoy it.

That I can work hard and love what I do. That hopefully, I can help someone just like I was helped this past four years.

Like I said before, to say I am excited is only the half of it. As for the

rest of it, ask me after I’ve had my third cup of coffee.
