So, I decided to do something drastic, for me at least. I decided to sign up for a half-marathon. To some, this may not seem like a lot, but for me, who can probably run 2.5 miles if I’m pushing myself, this is a big task to overcome.
If it’s so hard for me, why would I do it?
Great question. I wanted to sign up for a half-marathon to:
- Prove to myself that I can actually do it ( all 13.1094 miles of it)
- Loose weight and gain muscle
- Kick my butt into gear to start making positive changes in my life
I’ve been unhappy with how I look and feel for so long, that I decided that I needed to do something completely outside my comfort zone to make those changes that I so desperately want.
Half-Marathon: Vacation Races
I decided to do the Vacation Races, 2020 Yosemite Half-Marathon. I kept seeing an ad for this race on my Facebook feed and initially, I was like, yeah right. Then after seeing it a few more times, I got the idea into my head that doing this would be an amazing experience. After I hit a low point a few weeks ago, where I was depressed and upset with how I looked and felt, I decided that I should just sign up for the race, so here I am!
The race is on Saturday, May 9, 2020 in Bass Lake, CA, which is right near Yosemite.
As I said in my above video, I plan to upload bi-weekly video and blog updates. This will help me keep track of my progress, keep me accountable and lastly, I hope it will inspire any one who wants to make changes in their lives. The videos/blog posts will: give an overview of my progress, the miles I ran each week, and an overview of the food I ate.
10/28/2019 Weight & Measurements
Along with measuring how I am feeling throughout the process, I want to measure my weight and a few different body measurements with each bi-weekly video/ blog posts. So here goes nothing:
- My weight is: 235.4
- Waist is: 39 inches
- Hips are: 44 and 1/2 inches
- Widest part of thigh: 35 inches
- Widest part of calf: 19 inches
- Ankle is: 11 inches
- Neck (not sure how much this will change) is : 14 inches
I wanted to include my thigh, calf, and ankle measurements because I generally gain weight from my hips down (thicc thighs save lifes). I also included by neck measurement because I do gain weight in my face and I am interested to see if this measurement goes down.
